Ardrigh Books

about us

Who We Are

Ardrigh Books is a partnership comprising of the husband and wife team of Roland Spottiswoode and Sara Craig Lanier. We work from an eighteenth century farmhouse in Kilwaughter, Northern Ireland. All communications will receive our personal attention and should you telephone you will be speaking directly to one of us.

To our north are the nine Glens of Antrim and to the South East the coast of Ayrshire, Scotland. On a very clear day both the saddle of Cumbria and the Isle of Man are visible. Our 'office' comprises two Mac computers in a small converted barn that doubles as a library and painting studio. All communications will receive our personal attention and should you telephone you will be speaking directly to one of us.

We specialise in the publication of forgotten 19th and 20th century Irish 'classics', valuable literary, historical, traditional music, folkloric and antiquarian texts that have been long out of print.

Ardrigh Books favours the 'slow' book, as in 'slow' food and the 'slow' movement, taking time to produce an affordable local cultural icon that is both beautiful and informative. These publications will have reader friendly traditional open layouts, borders that permit the text to breath and attention paid to aesthetic detail. In later years, we plan to produce limited editions of traditionally hand printed texts.

Information about of our current and forthcoming publications may be found on our books page.
